About The Cotswolds
A patchwork of rolling hills dotted with farms and limestone churches, the Cotswolds is the English countryside in microcosm. Its medieval villages flourished alongside the wool trade, which created much wealth in the area. All our luxury Cotswolds holiday homes offer space, seclusion and a taste of the good life. Set in sprawling grounds, they provide easy access to nearby amenities, but are far enough removed to enjoy total tranquility.
The Cotswolds stretches some 100 miles from north to south. It covers much of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. In the north you’ll find chocolate-box villages like Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-in-Marsh. The lesser visited southern Cotswolds is home to Painswick, Berkeley and Lechlade. It’s only 90 minutes from London, but the pace of life is slow, with market days providing much of the hustle and bustle.
Summer months can be busy, especially in larger towns like Stow-on-the-Wold. You’ll see tearooms and antique shops doing a roaring trade, while pub gardens swell with walkers returning from a countryside stroll.
Head to the small city of Cheltenham for boutique shopping and festivals. In the opposite direction there's Burford, a village renowned for its stately high street leading down to the River Windrush. You're not too far from Oxford either, with its famous university and 'dreaming spires'.
Regardless of which holiday home in the Cotswolds you choose, we can arrange some unforgettable activities. Try hot air ballooning or hire a classic car to make you stay all the more memorable.
