About Joe

Before joining A&K, I worked in an editorial department covering everything from music festivals to favourite breeds of chicken. It was during a press trip to South Africa that I discovered my true calling. About midway through my second bungee jump of the week, as the landscape of Jo’burg rushed up to meet me, I realised that travel is what I love – and writing about what you love rarely feels like work. Now I like to think of my restless leg syndrome as a symptom of the travel bug, rather than an annoying habit for anybody whose desk is next to mine.

It’s in constant rotation, but right now probably Japan. Or India. Or Russia. Or….

How many languages do you speak?

One with fluency, although I can speak a few garbled sentences in Spanish and Russian. Привет

Mobile phone, foreign currency, sun cream, insect repellent, a guide book
