About Villa Nika
Villa Nika overlooks the alluring Adriatic, and its enormous marble-lined suites have sea views. There’s a spa, cinema and wine cellar at your disposal and the palatial property is fully serviced by a chef and butler.
Glossy, gilded interiors; nostalgic, nautical details; a smattering of baroque design – Villa Nika is a deeply glamorous seaside escape. Following its renovation in 2023, Architectural Digest called it ‘the most exclusive family getaway in Europe’. There’s space for 14 to sleep, in seven bedrooms split between three floors. All have ensuite bathrooms with enormous expanses of marble, some with Burlington bathtubs, others with balcony access. Italian furniture, Murano glass chandeliers and creamy Brač stone preserved from the original property (built in 1909) maintain a strong sense of history and grandeur, while maritime touches – an antique Chadburn, a reclaimed ship’s wheel, seascapes by Josep Maria Marquès Garcia – anchor its seafront location. Smart updates include a wine cellar, exclusive-use home cinema and private spa with steam and sauna room, plus the entire property is accessible for wheelchair users. Outside, an outdoor pool and hot tub, pretty parasols, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen and dining space lead to a garden of mimosa, citrus and magnolia trees hemmed in by an Aleppo pine forest.
The location
Set on the grounds of Boutique Hotel Alhambra, guests can practically stumble out of bed and into the Michelin-starred restaurant, Alfred Keller (although we might recommend a quick spruce up first). The villa is a 10-minute walk from the town of Mali Lošinj, so you needn’t go far to make the most of the island, whose microclimate is thought to have healing properties. Villa Nika overlooks Čikat Bay, where the branches of the dense pines tumble into the clear, bright Adriatic Sea. Paddle, play, swim and sail; there’s a traditional wooden vessel on hand for island-hopping, dolphin-spotting and sunset-cruising.
