On this historical experience, you will spend the afternoon touring Heraklion, including a visit to the Archaeological Museum, which houses the most important of Crete’s Minoan artefacts. Founded in 1908, the museum was founded to host the first collections of Cretan antiquities – its extensive contents now span 7,000 years. Afterwards, head to King Minos’ Palace of Knossos, which was the centre of the Minoan civilisation. Here you can see the remains of mosaic floors, the grand staircase, and the throne complex. After your sightseeing tour, there’s an opportunity to stop at a local winery to sample locally produced wines.
