About Cielo de Soller
A rare hideout in the heart of glorious Sóller. Cielo de Soller is an 18th-century finca on the edges of town with the Tramuntana mountains rising dramatically behind. Its lush grounds are filled with tumbling bougainvillaea, spiky soaring palms, orange and lemon trees and wonderful shaded corners to curl up in. In the heat of the Balearic summer, all of this space, and the cool green lawns, is dreamy; a curvy 16m swimming pool inspired by the Spanish artist and sculptor César Manrique also provides respite. Inside the styling is charmingly traditional, with smooth stone floors and beamed ceilings. With four floors, the house also has a lift, so that access throughout is easy. In the 13 bedrooms, in keeping with the way that the history of the building is celebrated throughout, the original handmade 18th- and 19th-century headboards and muslin-draped bed frames take centre stage. They are beautiful and supremely comfortable but - worth noting - queen size. Mahogany antiques follow the theme and green louvred wooden shutters filter the soft sunlight. All the bedrooms are en-suite with elegantly modernised bathrooms, and two of them come with their own hot tub. There are private terraces for some, and others lead straight out into the garden where a little wooden studio hides a gym and a separate treatment cabin for massages. With daily maid service, everything is kept spick and span, and chefs can be brought in. But don’t miss the lovely restaurants in the Plaza de la Constitución, the main town square, 10 minutes’ walk away or by the beach in Port de Sóller, reached by a wonderfully atmospheric trip on the rattly tram.
