Explore Roman and Regency Bath

Discover the beautiful Georgian city of Bath, often regarded as one of the loveliest cities in all of England. From its beginnings as a Roman camp in the first century, Bath endured through troubled centuries to emerge, in the 1700s, as a fashionable spa resort. Tour the site of the Roman Baths, discovered in an excellent state of preservation, and today one of the most complete Roman sites in Northern Europe. Next to the baths is the splendid Bath Abbey, with magnificent stained glass windows, honey-gold stone, and some of the finest fan vaulting in the world. Before leaving the city to explore the surrounding villages, admire the magnificent Palladian architecture for which the city is renowned, best seen from the Circus and the Royal Crescent. On Monday afternoons, you may also visit Number One Royal Crescent, which has been authentically restored to its Regency appearance.
