Upon arrival to its cobbled streets, the first thing we recommend is walking or cycling around the pathway on top of the city’s perimeter wall. Providing unrivalled views of the nearby countryside, this is an excellent way to get your bearings.

Explore its many food markets or dine at one of Lucca’s fabulous restaurants, amid atmospheric tree-lined streets. The city prides itself on its fine dining, with its chefs using only the freshest local produce. Rest assured, your taste buds will be well and truly stimulated.
After sating your hunger, give your eyes a feast at one of Lucca’s museums and art galleries. One of our favourites is the Puccini Museum. Located in the house where this great composer was born, you’ll learn all about Italy’s fascinating history as the birthplace of opera.

You are not expected to tip on top of restaurant service charges, though leaving a small amount is common practice. If there is no service charge, you might consider leaving 10%/15%, but it is not obligatory. In bars any small change is left as a tip. Tipping taxi drivers is also not mandatory but suggested.
